Peter de Villiers: Heyneke Meyer's Springbok Selections Underestimate the Intelligence of Black People

Politically IncorrectPeter de Villiers, former Springbok rugby coach and author of Politically Incorrect: The Autobiography, recently wrote an article published by Rand Daily Mail about the poor selection decisions of current Bok coach Heyneke Meyer.

De Villiers wrote the article after South Africa’s recent 25-37 loss to Argentina. In the former coach’s opinion, this is the direct result of “a dishonest selection”. Decisions to exclude players of colour “took the country back to the late eighties”.

Not only is this wrong, De Villiers says, but it has also resulted is a lack of team spirit.

Read the article:

I believe the Boks’ problems started in the build-up to the Test, when Heyneke Meyer underestimated the intelligence of black people with a dishonest selection.

According to the coach, two weeks ago Jesse Kriel was not only the best centre in South Africa, but the world.

In my opinion, Meyer made that assertion to justify the continued exclusion of Lionel Mapoe or Juan de Jongh in the midfield.
