Zelda la Grange: Nelson Mandela Didn’t Recognise the Extent of His Greatness (Podcast)

Good Morning, Mr MandelaGoeiemore, Mnr. MandelaFollowing the publication of her memoir, Good Morning, Mr Mandela, Zelda la Grange joined Jenny Crwys-Williams in studio at Talk Radio 702 to chat about the book.

La Grange speaks about how Nelson Mandela said before he died that he wanted to leave it up to other people to decide how to remember him and that this book is her way of doing so. When asked what she thinks Mandela would have said to her about the book, she replies that “he would say ‘Oh very good, Zeldina.’ That’s it.”

Crwys-Williams and La Grange discuss Mandela’s tendency to not ask for big gestures of recognition, with La Grange saying how humble he was and that she thinks he didn’t realise his own greatness.
