Alex Latimer Discusses the Challenges of Creating His Latest Book From Aardvark to Zuma

When Alex Latimer approached Penguin with the idea for an illustrated, humorous encyclopedia they asked him to create a similar project for a young audience first. After creating The South African Alphabet he eventually got to draw the adult version, From Aardvark to Zuma.

Latimer discussed the challenges he came across in the project with Country Living‘s Natalie Bosman:

You’ve illustrated and written The South African Alphabet, and now your latest creation is From Aardvark to Zuma is a concise, pocket-sized version –how are the two books different?

My original idea was to create From Aardvark to Zuma – sort of an illustrated, humorous encyclopedia of all things iconically South African.
